Now this is the story all about how my life got flipped, turned upside down and I'd like to take a minute just sit right there I'll tell you how I became the prin… sorry I got lost on a tangent. But this is a story, and it is about my life. Mostly about my craft SLASH* maker SLASH* artist life: So i knew I always loved art. I always was happiest making things, painting and being creative. I identified so hard with creativity. Then one day, I went to this nutso school in Limassol, Cyprus**, that just happened to have a bajillion creative people that were way better than me. they could draw better, paint better, shade better etc. I had no artistic training and I felt like I had been just dropped off at Mt. Everest with nothing but my bare bottom. CAN YOU EVEN IMAGINE? PEOPLE HAVE DIED CLIMBING MT EVEREST AND THEIR BODIES ARE STILL THERE DUDE. I pushed through and graduated. I did ok. I made a lot of jokes and threw paint on one or two people (true story, I was a brat). I assumed that because my art wasn’t as “GOOD”*** as everyone else, then my dream of being an artist was D-E-A-D. BUT I got hella anxious when I started Uni and I ended up switching my Fashion Design first year acceptance to a Art & Design Foundation a few days before it started. With that, my whole life changed. I saw so many forms of art, so many ways of what talent could look like. It was a real eye opener and pushed me to try ALL DEM things. ( I even used a loom to turn Adam’s picture into a woven fabric BAHAHA) I always knew making was important but that I still hadn’t found that THANG and so I continued testing and trying ALL DEM things. I would say only recently, the last 3 years or so have I truly found my niche and my confidence in that niche. Don’t get me wrong, I am still hella anxious and even with that new found art confidence (NEW WORD ALERT: ARTCONFI), It still kinda stung when I heard whispers about how ‘crafty’ my work was, and that they thought markets were full of ‘this’ as she walked straight past my booth. But, I am doing my very best to remember that not everyone is my customer and thats ok. My art truly makes me happy and yes, not everyone is my customer. Those who are, are my peeps. I know it the minute they walk into my booth. We giggle, we talk about cute things, we over share, become besties (You know, the usual). Basically, what I am trying to get at, is that if you think you suck massive soccer balls, you probably don’t. Maybe you just haven’t found ‘your thing’ yet. Is super photo realistic oil paintings my thing? That’s a HARD NO. Is painting on wood my thing? You bet your sweet bee-hind it is! Keep making, keep crafting, YOU DO YOU, and you will absolutely, without a doubt, find the art that makes your heart flutter and your soul happy. Side notes: */ or AKA ** Cyprus ***
